Find Fashion: The Wardrobe Classics

Hello Winter!

The start of a new season can be overwhelming, as we stare into our wardrobe (usually full of clothes) and claim ‘we have nothing to wear!’. To combat the new season worry, we have a list of our Top Five Winter Wardrobe Staples that you can curate at Belmont Forum.

Investing in staple pieces gives your wardrobe versatility – which is a key word when it comes to affordable fashion and getting good cost per wear. It also creates a more relaxed ‘getting ready’ experience.

1. The Trench Coat

The Trench Coat has been a staple item as far back as 1823! Whilst it was originally for Military use, it has been adopted as a key fashion item to beat the cold and rain. At Belmont Forum, visit retailers such as Ally, Noni B and Katies Fashion to find your trench.

2. The Leather Jacket

Much like the trench, leather jackets have been around since the early 1900’s. When an item has been useful for over 100 years, you know it’s worth the investment! When shopping for a leather jacket (we recommend Crossroads, Cotton On and Ally Fashion) go for something clean and classic. The extravagant studs and buckles may be tempting however it will date quickly and today we are focusing on being timeless!

3. The Black Boot

“Black Boots for winter? Ground-breaking…” you may be thinking to yourself. However, there’s a reason boots are a staple. A great pair of black boots are always ready to go anywhere with you. They will look fabulous with your favourite jeans and oversized sweater. However, they’ll also look amazing on a night out with a maxi dress and leather jacket thrown over the top (see how your staples are linking up?). Whilst the black is neutral, go for a texture you’ll love such as patent, leather or suede.

To get your shoe-robe up to date visit Betts Shoes, Novo, Spendless Shoes and Rubi Shoes (located inside our new Cotton On store).

4. The Slim-Leg Pant

Thankfully, we have Jeanswest, Noni B and Transit Clothing (just to name a few!) to help you on your pants journey. A pair of fitted pants works seamlessly into your wardrobe no matter your mood. Want to dress in a minimalistic style? Team a white shirt with your pants. Want to be more eccentric? Pair a printed coat and statement shoes with them instead.

5. The Sweater

A sweater is one of our favourite Winter pieces. We’ll take one in black, grey, cream, khaki, red- maybe let’s settle with one in every colour? Visit Katies, Millers Fashion and Crossroads to kickstart your sweater collection. Sweaters can be layered over shirts and under coats when it’s extremely cold or worn solo when it’s a bit warmer.
